Renaissance Chancery Court

252 High Holborn, London

Our Review

Pretty much everyone who stays at the Renaissance Chancery Court is enchanted by its lovely architecture, spacious rooms, superb service and terrific breakfast. The only slight criticisms made relate to the cost of breakfast (£25) and Internet access (£15 per day.)

The Renaissance Chancery Hotel is a 7-storey Edwardian property, built by the Pearl Assurance Company in 1914. Its marble staircase, soaring archways and classical central courtyard have made it an enticing venue for numerous filmmakers, with period movies such as “Howard's End” being shot there. The 356 spacious guestrooms are decorated in rich red and blue tones, complemented by fine linens and dark wood furnishings. Also very spacious, the en suite bathrooms are clad in Italian marble with lavish tub/shower combinations. A cocoon of peacefulness, the hotel's award-winning day spa in the basement is home to a gold-leafed relaxation room and a fully equipped Fitness Suite. The hotel’s restaurant, “Pearl”, is known for its modern French cuisine, paired with an extensive wine list, while the bar, in the old banking hall, has elegant soaring ceilings.
